Gall Bladder Surgery in India at a Reasonable Rate - Video

Gall Bladder Surgery in India is available at various hospitals of Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai and New Delhi at a reasonable rate. The quality of medical treatment provided at Indian hospitals is increasingly attracting a large number of foreign patients for various types of medical treatments. People prefer Gall Bladder Surgery in India because Indian hospitals are state of the art and maintain international protocols, constantly updated indicator and apply evidence-based tools in every aspect of the health services. It is because of these indicators that India has acquired the supreme position for medical tourism. We at Forerunners Healthcare Group offer a wide range of modern private hospitals and clinics for the patient’s to choose from. Indian hospitals are staffed by extremely well-qualified doctors and medical practioners.

Gallbladder surgery also known as cholecystectomy is used to treat gallstones, cancer and other disorders that affect the bladder. In complicated cases, an open cholecystectomy may be performed. Gallbladder surgery or cholecystectomy is performed under general anesthesia. This means the patient is unconscious and pain-free. Gallbladder removal is most commonly performed through four small incisions, with the doctor using a small video camera, called laparoscope. It’s important to emphasize that laparoscopic surgery often has a lower rate of complications, a shorter hospital stay, and better cosmetic results than an open procedure.

Causes of gall stones

  • The stones form when the amount of cholesterol or bilirubin in the bile is high.

  • Other substances in the bile may promote the formation of stones.

  • Pigment stones form most often in people with liver disease or blood disease, who have high levels of bilirubin.

  • Poor muscle tone may keep the gallbladder from emptying completely. The presence of residual bile may promote the formation of gallstones.

Symptoms of gall stones

  • Nausea and vomiting,

  • Fever, Jaundice

  • Indigestion, belching, bloating,

  • Intolerance for fatty or greasy foods, and

Procedure – In this video before the gallbladder surgery begins the patient is administered with general anesthesia.

During a laparoscopic gallbladder surgery, small incisions of up to half an inch are made and plastic tubes called ports are placed through these incisions. The camera and the instruments are then introduced through the ports which allow access to the inside of the patient. The camera transmits an image of the organs inside the abdomen onto a television monitor. While watching the monitor, the surgeon uses the instruments to carefully separate the gallbladder from the liver, ducts, and other structures. The surgeon inserts a needle through the navel and pumps carbon dioxide gas through it to create space in the abdomen. This step may raise blood pressure. Antihypertensive drugs may be helpful during gallbladder surgery to protect patients who have high blood pressure or heart or kidney disease.

Long specially designed instruments are inserted through the other three ports that allow your surgeon to delicately separate the gallbladder from its attachments to the liver and the bile duct and then remove it through one of the ports from the abdomen. After the gallbladder is removed from the abdomen then the small incisions are closed. Because the abdominal muscles are not cut during laparoscopic gallbladder surgery, patients have less pain and fewer complications than they would have had after surgery using a large incision across the abdomen. Recovery usually involves only one night in the hospital, followed by several days of restricted activity at home.

After surgery, most patients will spend several hours recovering at the hospital and then be released either the same day or the next day, barring complications.

  • Once the anesthesia has worn off, the patient may be asked to walk around to help prevent blood clots. The patient may be given a liquid diet for a few hours after surgery, but in most cases, may be given a regular diet the next day and your regular routine within a few days.

  • Most patients will experience some pain and a prescription pain reliever may be given. A common complaint is gas pain, which can be caused by residual carbon dioxide moving up through the body into the right shoulder. Intestinal gas pain and constipation are also common after surgery and may be aggravated by anesthesia, pain relievers or drinking through a straw.

  • Generally, one or two follow-up visits with the surgeon will be required. Scarring from laparoscopic gallbladder surgery will be very minimal.

  • The patient may experience intermittent diarrhea beginning a few weeks after surgery. This may occur while the body adjusts to losing the gallbladder. If it continues, your doctor may prescribe cholestyramine, which is a powder that will help bind the stool and relieve this form of diarrhea.
