After 5 doctors refused to perform on him, for fear of the surgery being too unstable, 76-years old Omani resident was operated on Global Hospital, Mumbai top cardiac surgery hospitals Mumbai, and is now said to be out of danger. Mr. Khalfan Manaa Bakhit Almamari underwent minimally invasive cardiac surgery (MICS). The doctors in Oman refused to operate on Mr. Khalfan, who suffered a heart attack, where his heart as stopped functioning to half and angiogram of heart showed a left main with 3 other arteries has significant block. Doctors in his home country said that the chances of a patient with a 15% EF surviving the operation were too low. Many stated that even if he survived, several complications might increase even after the procedure. Facts show that 95% of patients with this type of low EF don’t survive the surgical operation.
A team led by way of Dr. Chandrasekhar Kulkarni, consultant, CVTS, Global hospital, Parle, Mumbai, finally operated on 76-year-old man from Oman. His case was such that the chances of his survival were even lower if the surgery hadn’t been performed.” He was in Insensitive Care Unit (ICU) for 11 days after the technique, as this is the most volatile time. “Most patients don’t live to the post operation periods, so we had to provide him a lot of attention and care,” said Dr. Chandrasekhar Kulkarni. The patient being a diabetic had suffered massive heart attack thinking about his and his heart function he become deemed to be excessive chance for surgical operation in Oman. But, the patient was referred India in which Dr. Chandrasekhar Kulkarni gave him a new lease of life.
His family consulted three surgeons in Oman, all of whom refused to perform the surgery. Finally Dr. Chandrasekhar and another cardiac surgeon said he would do it. “Bypass surgery was urgently required in his case. We aimed to reduce his probabilities of future heart attacks and future cardiac death. Our team planned for his surgical procedure, which would enhance his heart functionality. His age and complex heart history with almost 20 years of diabetes history all of the risks made him have higher risk even when we treated him. Looking after all the complications our team planned for the Cardiac Surgery India that would benefit him.” Stated Dr. Chandrasekhar Kulkarni, consultant, at cardiac surgery hospitals Mumbai.
He similarly added, “We took the chance and challenged ourselves and done minimal invasive cardiac surgical operation as planned. This surgery had the smallest scar, no bone reducing, lesser chance of infection, and much less blood loss. As the patient had diabetes, the chances of infection have been more. After all of the studies and planning in the last week of November, we performed the surgical procedure which lasted for four-five hours and the patient was out of ICU in 2 days and started taking walks step to step. By the fifth day, he began climbing more than one steps and walking round some meters.”
“After the long-struggling, this would stop all at the end, however back in Oman; I could not choose surgery because of my age. Top Cardiac surgery hospitals Mumbai and doctors saved my life and now I’m in Oman happy with the new life. Doctor’s helped me with the assurance and underwent risky cardiac surgery for me. I am thankful to the helping staff for supporting me during my stay in hospital, now I don’t need a walker anymore and started my new life I thank all the helping workforce for supporting me, now I’m no longer anymore depending on a walker and began my new existence. I learned not to lose hope if situations are critical, keep the hope within and stay fighting,” Concluded Mr. Khalfan Manaa Bakhit Almamari.
