Of late India has embarked as a favorite medical destination for global patients due to various favorable factors. We at Indian Healthguru Group have been instrumental in managing Bariatric surgery in Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai in India with best possible resources to foreign patients. Unlike others, recently, Mrs. Silverline from Nigeria got her husband’s Bariatric surgery in Delhi. She shares her and her husband’s experience with us. Read on to know more about it.

Hello,

I am Mrs. Silverline from Nigeria. A few weeks ago, my husband had his Bariatric surgery in Delhi, I, certainly give all due credit to our medical service provider – The Indian Healthguru Group – for delivering us the best of the service. Indeed without them it wouldn’t have been possible to carry out the Bariatric surgery in Delhi. They truly had been professional and upto our expectations. I remember how his life was miserable with his obesity problem. Before surgery, he weighed 350 pounds. He had been yelling for Bariatric surgery for two years. The weight made his wound harder; it compounded the foot problem and he couldn’t exercise. It was impossible to lose weight. He tried everything – Weight Watchers, other diets, and exercise – but wasn’t losing anything. He couldn’t cut calories to that extent. Seeing this, I thought of getting him some other options to get rid of this problem of obesity. While I very well knew that it’s hard to get any option back in Nigeria, so I took resort over the internet. Gradually, on browsing the internet, I came across couple of options to have his Bariatric surgery in India along with other countries like Thailand and Mexico. On comparing I found the option of having the Bariatric surgery in India pretty viable.

I discussed this with my husband, he too subscribed my idea. While my further search for someone who can arrange Bariatric surgery in India came to an end when I came across a medical consultant called Indian Healthguru Group. I called them to enquire if they can manage his Bariatric surgery in India. We got an instant reply and a phone call, wherein the executive asked me my husband’s investigation reports to get back with an expert opinion. I was delighted to get his call within 2 days with the expert advice regarding his Bariatric surgery in Delhi or Mumbai or Chennai. He explained me the procedure of visiting India for the Bariatric surgery which was quiet simple, and he assured me to carry out things on my behalf, I was relived after finding them. I immediately gave my consent for my Bariatric surgery in Delhi. Soon I and my husband reached for his Bariatric surgery in Delhi-. We were picked at the airport by the executive of Indian Healthguru Group, were taken then to the obesity surgeon, who was suppose to perform his Bariatric surgery in Delhi. He was not just a bariatric surgeon, but a physician who believed in long-term care for his patients and that was very attractive to me and my husband.

The surgeon during his Bariatric surgery in Delhi adopted Sleeve gastrectomy, which is a surgical weight-loss procedure in which the stomach is reduced to about 15% of its original size, by surgical removal of a large portion of the stomach, following the major curve. The open edges are then attached together (often with surgical staples) to form a sleeve or tube with a banana shape. The procedure permanently reduces the size of the stomach. The procedure is performed laparoscopically and is not reversible. This combined approach has tremendously decreased the risk of weight loss surgery for specific groups of patients, even when the risk of the two surgeries is added. Most patients can expect to lose 30 to 50% of their excess body weight over a 6 - 12 month period with the sleeve gastrectomy alone. The timing of the second procedure will vary according to the degree of weight loss, typically 6 – 18 months.- Stomach volume is reduced, but it tends to function normally so most food items can be consumed in small amounts. - Removes the portion of the stomach that produces the hormones that stimulates hunger (Ghrelin), although the durability of this removal has yet to be confirmed. - No dumping syndrome because the pylorus is preserved. - Minimizes the chance of an ulcer occurring. - By avoiding the intestinal bypass, the chance of intestinal obstruction (blockage), anemia, osteoporosis, protein deficiency and vitamin deficiency are significantly reduced. - Very effective as a first stage procedure for high BMI patients (BMI >55 kg/m2). - Limited results appear promising as a single stage procedure for low BMI patients (BMI 35–45 kg/m2). - Appealing option for people with existing anemia, Crohn's disease and numerous other conditions that make them too high risk for intestinal bypass procedures. Thus my husband had his smooth Bariatric surgery in Delhi-India.

After Bariatric surgery in Delhi my husband stayed in the hospital for 3 days and soon recovered quickly after the process of laparoscopic Sleeve gastrectomy. After Bariatric surgery in Delhi, my husband felt like he is more in control of his body. It’s a good feeling, he is physically active now, and is able to walk three miles a day. He couldn’t do that before the Bariatric surgery in Delhi. He goes to amusement parks and can go on rides; which he couldn’t do that before. His lab work and blood pressure is good. Now he feel like he eat to live instead of living to eat and now get a lot more enjoyment from a little bit of quality food. My husband says, “I couldn’t believe the results I got. My stomach is flat, and I had no post-op complications. Any questions my doctor had answered very promptly. I’ve even referred one patient to him.” Now when my husband is hale and hearty, I must take this opportunity to thank the medical consultant who expedited Bariatric surgery in Delhi, besides them, I would also like to extend my words of gratitude to the surgeon who performed the surgery. This pleasant experience of being treated in India would certainly provoke me to recommend people for the same.

Thank you,

Mrs. Silverline,
Nigeria
